6: A Guided Meditation to Kickstart Your Organizing Project
===
Welcome to episode six of Permission to be Messy. I'm your host, JoAnn Krall and today I'm sharing a guided meditation that you can use before any organizing project to help you relax, let go and create a vision for your space.
Quick disclaimer, if you're driving, pause this episode until you're at your destination or save it for a moment when you can relax.
Okay. Let's begin.
Find a comfortable position, either sitting or lying down. Take a deep breath in followed by a long slow. Exhale.
Allow yourself to settle into the present moment. And let go of any thoughts or distractions.
Gently close your eyes and bring your attention to the area you want to declutter and organize.
It could be a room. Your computer. Or even your calendar.
As you picture this area in your mind's eye. What feelings come up? Do you feel stressed? Anxious. Frustrated. Overwhelmed. Embarrassed. Ashamed. Or just out of control.
There is no wrong answer.
You may even be thinking about multiple areas and unable to focus on one. That's okay too.
Take a moment to acknowledge these feelings and know that they're all normal.
Take another deep breath in. And as you exhale. Observed the sensations in your body. And identify where you may be holding tension or discomfort.
Maybe in your shoulders.
Your neck. Your lower back. Or your stomach. Just observe. Don't try to fix anything.
Now think about your goals for getting organized. Do you want to enjoy your space more? Take control over finances. Or perhaps have more time to do the things that you love.
Whatever your motivation. Imagine you've achieved your goal.
What does it look like?
What do you see when you walk through that room? Or when you open your computer. Or look at your calendar.
Take a few moments to see as many details as you can. Engage your senses. What colors are there? Textures. Smells. And perhaps even [00:03:00] sounds.
It is possible that you can't envision anything yet. And that's okay too. Instead, you can just focus on your breathing. And listen to my voice.
As you sit with this newly organized area, how do you feel now? Maybe peaceful. Relaxed. Happy. Motivated. Confident. Empowered.
Now that you know what you want things to look and feel like. Imagine that you have a clear plan for getting organized. This plan includes knowing exactly where to start. The support you need. The tools you need. And daily manageable, small tasks.
You don't need to know the specifics. Only that you were empowered to get organized. See yourself sorting through each item with care. Deciding what is important to keep and what can be let go.
Take the time to consider each item and it's purpose in your life. Do you love it? Do you need it?
Feel a sense of relief as you let go of things that no longer serve you.
Imagine yourself feeling lighter and more at ease.
Imagine your muscles relaxing and releasing any tension that you may have been holding.
Notice how much better it feels to be clutter-free and how much easier it will be to create organized systems.
Take a deep breath in. And as you exhale turn your attention back to the sensations in your body. Imagine yourself, breathing in relaxation and breathing out any remaining tension or stress.
Take a moment to observe the changes you have made in your mind's eye and allow yourself to feel the benefits of this visualization.
No that you have the power to overcome any obstacles and create this organized space.
Take a final deep breath in. And as you exhale slowly, open your eyes. Stretch your arms and your legs. And when you're ready, take one small action toward making your vision of an organized space a reality.
You can always return to this meditation whenever you're feeling overwhelmed or stressed by an organizing project. And remember that every small step you take towards getting organized is progress.
I hope you enjoyed that.
So, where do you go from here? What's that first action step. one thing you could do is journal about your experience, listening to this meditation. you may want to listen to it again and see if anything else comes up.
Another step could just be go let go of a few items just get the ball rolling. Start decluttering.
Maybe you're inspired to actually make an action plan. And if you are.
I have a course called Get Organized, Create Your Action Plan.
It's an online program with a simple step-by-step process to define your organizing projects, prioritize them and create an action plan.
I have fillable PDF worksheets in there that you can use over and over for new projects.
I've included my success path to get organized. And of course you have access to me to ask any questions that you may have along the way.
While you can purchase this course standalone. It is also a part of my Sensibly Organized membership.
So I'm going to include a link to both of those offers in the show notes, as well as my website, because if you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to me. Whether you have questions on this meditation. On either of those offers or just any questions in general or any topics that you want me to cover in the future?
And I'll leave you with one of my favorite quotes by Raymond, Aaron. Every mess is a lock on the gate that keeps abundance out.
And as always, I'm wishing you much productivity, peace, prosperity, and the permission to be messy. Thank you for listening.
